CT Findings of a Gastric Inflammatory Fibroid Polyp Manifesting as Unexpected Growth: A Case Report

چکیده
cellular proliferations that originate from the submucosa, and are histologically composed of fibrous tissues, blood vessels, and an inflammatory cell infiltrate containing a high percentage of eosinophils within an edematous and collagenous stroma (1). IFPs are most frequently found in the gastric antrum and the small bowel (1). Although the pathogenesis of gastric IFPs remains uncertain, some authors have proposed that they result from immunological reactions to several irritations; in particular, they may be related to Helicobacter pylori infection (2, 3). Several reports on gastric IFPs have described its endoscopic findings; however, few have reported on its CT findings (1, 4). To the best of our knowledge, no previous report has been issued on the CT findings of a gastric IFP showing morphological changes. Here, we report the CT findings of a case of gastric IFP that demonstrated marked growth over a five month period.

Gastric Inflammatory Fibroid Polyp: Report of a Case
The gastric inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP) is a rare benign tumor of unknown etiology that is localized mainly in the antrum and presents endoscopically as submucosal mass. The lesion manifests as abdominal pain, weight loss, bleeding, dyspeptic symptoms, and iron deficiency anemia. We report a case of gastric IFP presented with microcytic anaemia, dyspepsia, malena and weight loss. Endosc...

Inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP) is a rare benign lesion of the gastrointestinal tract. We report a case of computed tomography (CT) imaging finding of a gastric IFP with massive fibrosis. CT scans showed thickening of submucosal layer with overlying mucosal hyperenhancement in the gastric antrum. The submucosal layer showed increased enhancement on delayed phase imaging. An antrectomy with gas...

Introduction: Inflammatory fibroid polyps are benign submucosal polyps of the gastrointestinal tract. They are found mainly in the stomach but also in the small bowel where they can cause small bowel obstruction and intussusception. The treatment is surgical resection of the polyp. Few cases have been reported in Crohn's disease patients. We describe two cases of newly-diagnosed ileal Crohn's d...

متن کاملAn Unusual Cause of Intestinal Obstruction in a Young Adult Patient: Inflammatory Fibroid Polyp
Inflammatory fibroid polyps are uncommon benign lesions that originate in the submucosa of the gastrointestinal tract. The stomach and the ileum are the most commonly affected sites. Although inflammatory fibroid polyp is one of the rare conditions leading to intestinal obstruction in adults, it should be considered as a possible diagnosis in obstructive tumors of the small bowel causing intuss...
